Some Of The Things I Can Help You With During Your Melbourne Guitar Lessons With Me
If I include my classical piano studies that I did when I was young, I've been studying some form of musical instrument for the last 28 years. This means that I can help you learn about a vast number of things that will help improve your electric guitar playing.
Have I learnt everything that you could ever learn about guitar? Have I mastered everything?
Nope…and any guitar teacher who says they have is either a complete idiot or a total bullshit-artist!
Like you, I'm still learning and practicing new things all the time. Mastering guitar and music is more than a few lifetimes work! With that said, I definitely feel that I've learnt enough over the years to help you with a lot of things. :-)
So what are some of the things that I can help you with? Let's take a look now…
Guitar Music Theory:
Learning some essential guitar music theory can really help you reach your musical goals. How much theory you need to learn will depend entirely on your goals. For example, someone wanting to play blues guitar would need to learn far less theory than someone wanting to play jazz guitar. My promise to you is to help you master music theory in a very practical, interesting and systematic way. There is no point learning theory if it doesn't help you play better!
Guitar Technique:
Developing awesome technique is essential. Someone who has a well-developed technique makes their guitar playing look effortless. I can help you learn and master a wide-variety of guitar techniques relevant to the style of guitar playing you truly love.

Guitar Practice Strategies:
Learning how to practice guitar effectively is possibly the MOST important thing you could learn. If you don't know how to practice, then making progress is impossible. But if you have a mastery of practice strategies then you'll be able to overcome almost any musical problem and challenge.
Musicianship:
This is what will make you a musician as well as a guitarist. I think of musicianship as any musical ability that is equally relevant to all musical instruments. We'll cover things like developing your timing and developing your sense of pitch. And all this will help you to unlock your true musical potential.
Guitar Improvisation:
People often believe that improvisation is some magical experience that only the most talented musicians can experience. But this is just not true. Learning to improvise fluently is like learning to speak a new language. And for that reason, it can be learnt in a systematic way. I can show you effective strategies that will help improve your ability to improvise in a fluent and musical way.
Guitar Cover Songs:
Learning songs by your favorite guitarists and bands is a great way to improve your guitar playing. My goal with helping you learn cover songs is to eventually make you self-sufficient. This means that rather than just spoon-feeding you songs, I will also teach you the skills that you need to learn them by yourself.
Guitar Composition:
A lot of guitar players have an interest in writing their own music. While I'm definitely not a composition guru, I've had experience composing music in jazz, speed metal and instrumental rock styles. I can give you practical ideas that will help you improve your ability to compose interesting music.
Big Picture Stuff:
This is a vital area for guitar players who are serious about getting as good as possible. It includes things like setting appropriate muscal goals and action plans. It also includes mindset stuff like how to stay motivaed with your practice.
