But What If You Don't Live Close By?
When I was teaching in Auckland, New Zealand I taught quite a few guitarists who had to drive at least 30-45 minutes to get to me. In some cases the drive to the lesson took longer than the actual lesson itself! Why did they do that?
Because they were smart enough to realise two things…
- Choosing an electric guitar tutor based purely on location is not a good idea. They were willing to travel further if it meant they could get lessons from someone who could help them achieve their musical goals. What good is it to go to a teacher who is close by if they can't effectively help you reach your goals?
- They realised that a good tutor would shave years off their learning curve. Think about it. Would you rather save 15 minutes each week in travelling time…or would you rather save yourself years by going to the best teacher possible?
If the the travel time to me is truly going to be a problem, then I am more than happy for you to take fortnightly lessons. Only having to come once a fortnight will definitely make the travel time seem less of a hassle.
