Improve Your Electric Guitar Playing By Going Online
I need to be blunt here…
One of the fastest and most effective ways to improve your electric guitar playing is to do the following…
- Invest a LOT of time getting clear about how you would ideally like to play. I call this developing "Your Vision".
- Invest a LOT of time researching so that you can find a great electric guitar teacher who can help you reach this vision.
- Get regular lessons from that teacher. If you only attend lessons occasionally, then even the best teacher in the world can't help you.
That's it. There is absolutely no substitute for one-on-one guidance and help from an experienced electric guitar teacher.
With that said, I realise that not everyone is willing or able to commit to one-on-one lessons from a guitar teacher. If that sounds like you, then this page is for you…
Here I've included links to…
- Online guitar courses that I've created myself.
- Reviews of online guitar courses and products that I've bought.
Keep in mind, that to benefit from ANY online guitar course or product you need to be capable of working without one-on-one guidance. It is unrealistic to expect a high degree of "hand-holding" from the product creator. (If you need a lot of hand-holding, then you need to find a good guitar tutor). But if you are comfortable with self-directed learning, then the following online products may be helpful…

These are the online products that I have created myself. They are targeted towards people who are serious about getting good, and are willing to work hard. So if you are a lazy bum, don't even think about buying them.
Guitar Scale Mastery:
Most guitar players have what I call "scale pattern addiction". They are locked into rigid scale fingerings that make it hard to improvise musically. (Don't even get me started about how much I think the CAGED system of scales sucks!). Guitar Scale Mastery helps you learn the exact strategies that I use to internalise guitar scales. There are some unorthodox methods, so be prepared to keep an open mind!

Guitar Note Mastery:
It's not a particularly sexy topic, but learning the notes on the fretboard is essential. Learning the note locations will help you make sense of chords, arpeggios, scales and other musical materials. Guitar Note Mastery is my method of memorising the damn things.

50 Blues: Professional Blues Guitar Backing Tracks.
Jamming with other musicians is an important part of developing as an improvising guitarist. But not everyone has the opportunity to do this on a regular basis…
That's where backing tracks can be extremely useful. By playing along to backing tracks you can gain valuable experience playing with drummers, bass players and other instruments.
